The Top 10 Strategies On Building An Awesome Squidoo Lens

Squidoo is quickly becoming a great way to market a business online and earn income via affiliate programs. In case you don’t know, Squidoo is a free resource that allows anyone to build web pages (referred to as “lenses”) about anything and everything. From an Internet Marketing perspective, these lenses can be extremely search engine friendly and drive massive traffic to your website.

Here are 10 strategies to build a great Squidoo lens that will bring traffic and money your way.

1. Make sure you completely fill out your entire Squidoo profile. This includes adding an interesting bio about yourself and a photo that represents you. Doing this will let people on Squidoo know what you’re about and encourage them to read more of your lenses

2. The name you choose for your lens is very important. Your title needs to be unique and catchy rather than bland and generic. The title also needs to point out exactly what the page is about and should include search terms that people would use when seeking out the info you are providing.

For example, the title “Why Dalmatians Are The Coolest Dogs Ever!” beats the pants off “About Dalmatian Dogs”.

3. Write a quality introduction that is appealing and informative to the reader. Your intro should also contain keyword / search terms in order for the search engines to recognize you. Remember that the first line of your intro is often what shows up in the search engines so make sure that it displays your purpose of the lens and targeted keywords.

4. Write killer content that people will enjoy. If you lens lacks content, doesn’t entertain or doesn’t inform people than nobody is going to want to read it. Pick subjects that you know something about and share your experiences. If people see you are excited that will get them fired up too. As always, don’t forget to include your keywords and search terms throughout the copy but make sure you don’t go overboard with this (ie. keyword spamming).

5. Include targeted links to related content. Remember that search engines notice not only who is linking to you, but also who you are linking to. Make sure that when you do link to related websites you use targeted words and phrases as your links. For example, if you are writing about making money on Squidoo your outgoing links should say something like, “For more info, check out this website on Squidoo Affiliate Profits instead of just “Click here”. You can also add Amazon and other modules that can help with this.

6. Don’t forget the graphics. Graphics will help break up your content and encourage people to continue reading.

7. Make sure that you tag your lens with 10 to 30 phrases and keywords that people might search for when looking for your topic.

8. Provide a variety of content. Large blocks of text, ads, graphics, etc can easily lose your reader’s attention. Mix it up and spread your lens out.

9. Encourage people to come back to your lens by providing a guestbook and poll. You also want to update or change your content every once in awhile which will help you with the search engines.

10. Make sure you proofread before you publish. Grammar and spelling do matter so utilize your spellchecker and read through your content a few times before you go live. It’s also a good idea to have others read your stuff over to catch anything you might have missed.

So now all that’s left for you to do is take action and start Squidooing! By putting all these strategies to use it won’t take long until you are enjoying targeted traffic to your website or earning affiliate commissions compliments of your new Squidoo lenses.

Consistency Is The Key To Affiliate Marketing Profits

When it comes to affiliate marketing there are several methods in which a person can make money. The truth is that there are literally thousands of great techniques and education courses available that will show you exactly what to do to achieve success.

Unfortunately most “newbie” affiliate marketers experience information overload from these programs and eventually give up before they ever make a dime. Most of the time, the new affiliate marketer will blame the eBook or training course for lack of success and quickly spends more money on new education.

What they fail to recognize is that it’s usually not the eBook that is the problem; it’s the person reading it that decides the outcome.

The truth is that only a small percentage of affiliate marketers actually earn the big profits that everyone is dreaming of. Although affiliate marketing is not a hard task, only a fraction of people really have what it takes to stay focused and press on even when the sales aren’t coming in right away.

If you want to be successful you must conquer the “self doubt” that is going to kick in as soon as you devote some time to your new affiliate marketing venture and don’t see the results. You must understand that this is natural and while others are giving up you are going to press on, build from your experiences, and continue to educate yourself on affiliate marketing strategies and tactics.

Think of affiliate marketing as pushing a snowball up and over a hill. At first it’s going to be difficult because gravity (doubt) is working against you. But after you make it over the peak you can’t stop the snowball even if you wanted to simply because it keeps getting bigger and continues to roll on its own.

So you need to understand that all the hard work is going to come at the beginning without any reward. But as you continue to market your affiliate programs on a daily basis, pretty soon your efforts will start paying off simply because you are everywhere on the Internet.

Forums… You’re there!
Articles… You’re there!
Social networking… You’re there!
Search Engines… You’re there!
EBay… You’re there!
And on and on it goes!

In closing, if you are just getting started with affiliate marketing make sure you do your research, find the right training program, and then stick with it. If you are one of those people that have already purchased a bunch of education programs, then maybe it’s time to dust them off and give them another try before you spend more money on training

The 2009 Outlook For The Internet Business Owner

As we wave goodbye to 2008 and welcome 2009 what lies in store for the Internet marketer and home business owner? Although the rest of the economy seems to be in a serious funk I believe 2009 will be another amazing year for entrepreneurs harnessing the power of the net.

Whether you a network marketer, affiliate marketer or “for profit” website owner both the ecommerce and network marketing industries continue to grow at an alarming rate, despite what’s going on with the rest of economy.

The one thing I would like to point out though as we move forward is that EVERYONE should do their part to keep the Internet free. Since the Internet is truly the only place where the little guy operating a business out of his home can compete with corporate giants, don’t let this get ripped out from under you without a fight.

If you aren’t familiar with different legislation and organizations vying to control and regulate the Internet I encourage you to get educated and do your part to make your voice heard.

A great website to find more information about “Keeping the Internet Free” is http://www.savetheinternet.com.

Best of luck in 2009 everyone!

Remember Lee Iacocca?

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from its death throes? He’s now 82 years old and has a new book, “Where Have All the Leaders Gone?“.

Lee Iacocca Says:

“Am I the only guy in this country who’s fed up with what’s happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder! We’ve got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we’ve got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can’t even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, ‘Stay the course.’

Stay the course? You’ve got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned, ‘Titanic’. I’ll give you a sound bite: ‘Throw all the bums out!’

You might think I’m getting senile, that I’ve gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore.

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we’re fiddling in Iraq, the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving ‘pom-poms’ instead of asking hard questions. That’s not the promise of the ‘America’ my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for.

I’ve had enough. How about you?

I’ll go a step further. You can’t call yourself a patriot if you’re not outraged. This is a fight I’m ready and willing to have. The Biggest ‘C’ is Crisis! (Iacocca elaborates on nine C’s of leadership, with crisis being the first.)

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It’s easy to sit there with your feet up on the desk and talk theory. Or send someone else’s kids off to war when you’ve never seen a battlefield yourself. It’s another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A hell of a mess, so here’s where we stand.

We’re immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving.

We’re running the biggest deficit in the history of the country.

We’re losing the manufacturing edge to Asia , while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs.

Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy.

Our schools are in trouble.

Our borders are like sieves.

The middle class is being squeezed every which way.

These are times that cry out for leadership.

But when you look around, you’ve got to ask: ‘Where have all the leaders gone?’ Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo?

We’ve spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.

Name me one leader who emerged from the crisis of Hurricane Katrina. Congress has yet to spend a single day evaluating the response to the hurricane or demanding accountability for the decisions that were made in the crucial hours after the storm.

Everyone’s hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping it doesn’t happen again. Now, that’s just crazy. Storms happen. Deal with it. Make a plan. Figure out what you’re going to do the next time.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when ‘The Big Three’ referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, what are we going to do about it?

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debit, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the gang in Congress. We didn’t elect you to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent while our democracy is being hijacked and our greatness is being replaced with mediocrity. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on Fox News will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don’t you guys show some spine for a change?

Had Enough? Hey, I’m not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I’m trying to light a fire. I’m speaking out because I have hope - I believe in America. In my lifetime, I’ve had the privilege of living through some of America ’s greatest moments. I’ve also experienced some of our worst crises: The ‘Great Depression,’ ‘World War II,’ the ‘Korean War,’ the ‘Kennedy Assassination,’ the ‘Vietnam War,’ the 1970’s oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with 9/11.

If I’ve learned one thing, it’s this: ‘You don’t get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action. Whether it’s building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That’s the challenge I’m raising in this book. It’s a “Call to Action” for people who, like me, believe in America ‘. It’s not too late, but it’s getting pretty close. So let’ s shake off the crap and go to work. Let’s tell ‘em all we’ve had ‘enough.’

Make your own contribution by sending this to everyone you know and care about. It’s our country, folks, and it’s our future. Our future is at stake!!”

The “Right” Way To Develop Your Own Successful Ezine

An ezine has become on the most effective marketing tools on the Internet today. Unlike a traditional magazine or newsletter, the ezine is an easy to put together publication that’s only available through the Internet via email or a website. This eliminates the costs associated with traditional magazines such as printing and distribution.

If you do a search about any subject online you are going to find that you have the opportunity to join hundreds of ezines on various targeted subjects. Since the development of an ezine is a perfect method to build an opt-in list of potential clients for your products and services, it’s imperative that you develop your own online publication. Otherwise you’re only leaving potential sales on the table.

So what are the steps to developing a successful online ezine?

The truth is that with a simple piece of software and knowledge on a certain subject, you can start your own ezine and start adding people to your subscriber database in a matter of minutes.

Here are the four steps to creating your ezine and getting it online.

#1 - The first thing you need to do is choose a name for your ezine that describes the content you will be providing. Obviously you want to create an ezine that relates to the products or services that you are going to be selling. For example, If I have a product or service I’m promoting that deals with weight loss & nutrition I might name my ezine the following, “Lose Weight Safely – The eZine Dedicated To Safe and Effective Weight Lose Techniques”. The main thing is to make the name of your ezine exciting and let the subscribers no exactly what they are subscribing to.

#2 – After you create the theme and title of your ezine, the next thing you will want to do is add an opt-in form to your website so people can subscribe to receive your publication. The reason you want to do this before you actually create your first ezine, is that you need subscribers to send information to. You might as well be building your database while you develop a quality publication.

In order to add an opt-in form to your website you are going to need an auto responder service such as Aweber. An auto responder is an email marketing and database tool that allows you to build an opt-in list and then email that opt-in list your ezines and email promotions. The auto responder service you choose will give you a snippet of code you can add to your website, blog, MySpace page, etc. that will allow visitors to subscribe to your new ezine.

#3 – After your opt-in forms are added to your web properties it’s time to start encouraging your visitors to subscribe to your new ezine. You can do this by offering your visitors extra freebies simply for signing up for your publication. Some good ideas are free eBooks, discounts on products, vouchers, reports and audios. The important thing is to add on the value a person will receive when they sign up and make them an offer they just can’t refuse. By doing this you can drastically increase your opt-in rates and build your subscriber base at a lot faster rate.

#4 – All that’s left to do from here on out is produce a quality publication to send to your subscriber base. When writing your ezine newsletters it’s important that you continually offer valuable and relevant information about your selected topic. This will ensure that you will retain your subscriber base and avoid having people “opt-out” of receiving future information.

Make sure you keep your advertising to a minimum and work in your products and services into the subject you are writing about. Giving someone a subtle suggestion about a product or service often works way better than blatantly advertising to them.

In closing, you now have the formula for successfully creating your own ezine. While most web publishers worry about creating the perfect ezine before they start building their opt-in base, you will grow your database much quicker by working in reverse and then writing quality content as your subscriber base grows.

Easily Create a Lead Capture Page That Converts Like Crazy

Most people have no idea how to create a lead capture page that converts visitors into leads. Unfortunately many lead capture pages are slopped together without compelling ad copy and the key triggers that get people interested in an offer.

In this article you will discover why certain landing pages convert like crazy while others don’t. You will also learn some pin point accurate techniques to make your next lead capture page project a huge success.

One major problem that people run into creating capture pages is how to write compelling copy. If you are a beginning copy writer or someone who has trouble with skill than it’s important to study copywriting or hire someone to help you with the process.

Here are a few tips to help you out with lead capture page copy writing:

#1 - It is important to use a of compelling sales points with powerful psychological triggers. Most people who create a sales page miss either one or both of those elements.

#2 - Concentrate on building enthusiasm with a little bit of hype BUT make sure to clearly explain what solution you are providing and for whom you are providing it for. If I don’t have a specific problem that you’re solving you are not going to convert traffic into leads.

#3 - Sprinkle in psychological triggers, such as “Proven to Work”, “Revealed”, and “Insider Secrets”. These buzz words will compel your visitors to continue reading your copy and raise the perceived value of your offer.

#4 - Make sure your lead capture page has a smooth flow. If the copy looks amateurish and it doesn’t slowly grind forward you won’t break down your visitor’s resistance to the sale, or opting in to become a lead.

#5 - Personalize your copy by using your name, location and even a picture of yourself throughout your page. This not only builds credibility but also lets people know that there is a real person behind the offer they are reading on the website.

In addition to careful copywriting, there are other important things you must take into consideration when writing a lead capture page that converts. For instance, it is important to build a compelling case for a limited time offer.

Now, this doesn’t mean you have to invent fake deadlines and constantly revise them each week. However, you will want to make sure that you constantly urge the reader to act immediately by inserting a number of “calls to action” along the way.

Here is an example of a “call to action”:

“Don’t Wait… I’m Only Planning On Giving Away 50 Copies of My “Internet Cashflow” Report Before I Pull It Offline For Good - Grab Your FREE Copy NOW Before It’s Too Late!”

As you can see, I’m creating a sense of urgency or “call to action” to get my prospect to act quickly and make a decision. Not only does this call to action build perceived value for my offer but it also gives the prospect direction on what I want them to do.

Creating a quality lead capture page doesn’t have to be a long drawn out process either and sometimes less is more. Rather than building a compelling case with multiple triggers and calls to action over the course of 1000+ words, you may want to simply condense that all into a compelling headline and one paragraph of the “benefits” of your offer.

You will find that you can sky rocket your opt-in rates with this technique unless the visitor a) doesn’t see any benefits from taking you up on your offer and b) suspects that you will spam them or sell their email address and information.

Both of these problems are easy to overcome though by doing a few small things. First, in your headline simply state the exact benefits they will receive for joining or “opting in” to your list. In your first paragraph of copy, give them a compelling reason to join now (i.e., the price might go up, the list might become private, grab a copy of my amazing report).

Now, to overcome the second problem, simply include a short line under your opt-in form that explains that you will not spam them or sell their email address and name. This is known as your “terms and conditions” or “privacy policy”.

Here is an example “Privacy Policy” I like to use:

“Please Note: I respect you privacy and your information will only be used to deliver the materials relating to my incredible limited time offer (No Spam – EVER). All contact information must be accurate or valuable materials will not be delivered.”

You can even put your phone number and name in your privacy policy to help with the credibility of your promise not to spam or sell the prospects information.

In closing, creating a lead capture page that converts like crazy isn’t as hard as you might think. Simply exercise some of the techniques outlined in this article to put yourself on the fast track to lead generation and opt-in list building success.
